North America

The United States of America has long been a place where the cultures of many countries and people come together and grow in new and exciting ways. A wealth of popular dances have been born out of the U.S. along with the music that inspires them. .

During the big band jazz era we got Swing. There are several forms of this dance still kicking a storm on dance floors all over the world. We cover East coast swing and Lindy hop to give you a good feel for the dance, that will allow you to improvise on any dance floor.

From slightly earlier on, the ballrooms of the early 20th century gave us Foxtrot and Quickstep, now often danced to the same music as swing, but more formal in style.

Rock and roll music followed later with a wave of dance crazes. From this genre, we teach Jive the most international of all the rock and roll dances.
