It’s this Saturday!

What’s happening this Saturday? Well strap yourselves in ladies and gentlemen, this Saturday evening at Phoenix Dance Studio we will have:

  • Everyone dancing on the floor to great music.
  • Door Prize (Dinner for Two)
  • More dancing
  • Students dancing hard for their Medal Exams
  • Three instructor floorshows
  • Even more dancing
  • A glass of bubbly on arrival
  • A half hour group class at the start to get you all going
  • Best dancer of the night prize
  • Some live singing as you dance

All this is $25 for students and just $10 for guests!

See you all on the dance floor on Saturday night.

Saturday Group Class for October

This month the Saturday Street Latin group class will be working on some Salsa, focusing on partnering the back pass.

It’ll include perfecting your lead/follow skills with this move and also taking it further by adding an extra spin using a sweet low to high hold transition.

We start the Salsa on the first Saturday of October, see you on the floor.

Thursday Group Class for October

Thursday Group Class for October

This month the Thursday Latin American group class will be working on some Cha Cha Cha, focusing on partnering the base action, New York and Hand to Hand.

This’ll include lots of variations on these moves including double New Yorks, switching between the combinations and making sure that you can all lead/follow well.

Starts on the first Thursday of October, see you on the dance floor.

Tuesday Group Class for October

Tuesday Group Class for October

This month the Tuesday Street Latin group class will be working on some Argentine Tango, focusing on partnering the ocho.

It’ll include lots of variations on the ocho theme including ocho atras, outside partner and also adding boleo, gancho and sentada intros and exits to the mix.

This all kicks off on the first Tuesday of October, see you there.

Lucy’s Merengue

Merengue at Showcase Challenge 2014.

Each year, any student that’s feeling brave enough can put their name down for the Phoenix Dance Studio Showcase Challenge. Then just 5 weeks before they have to perform their uniquely choreographed routine in front of the studio and guests, we select the dance style at random!

It could be something that they feel pretty confident with or maybe a dance style that they have never even tried before, but either way Lucy and 8 other brave souls rose to the challenge and performed some fantastic routines.

This year the dances drawn were (in no particular order) English Tango, Salsa, Waltz, Swing, Rumba, Jive, Quickstep, Samba and Merengue.

We’re proud of all the students and instructors who put in a ton of effort to present such entertaining routines in a very short space of time.
