Miriam Combs
Miriam has loved dancing her entire life. Starting in Napier then furthering her training with a Diploma from New Zealand’s Dance Education Centre, before eventually moving to Melbourne. Miriam started teaching dance when she was just thirteen years old. Her background includes Classical Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Latin American, Street Latin, Modern Ballroom and New Vogue.
She has been teaching dance in Melbourne since 2000 and met her handsome husband Tom on the dance floor in 2001. They worked together in Melbourne for a few years before heading to Europe and dancing in Piazza San Marco in Venice, Paris jazz clubs, candlelight parks in Zagreb, London nightclubs and a hundred other places. This helped form their viewpoint that if you know how to dance you can have a great time anywhere in the world. Miriam’s personal philosophy is that dance can transform anyone: there is no such thing as someone who “just can’t dance.”
Miriam and Tom have three beautiful children and when not running around after them, they try to bring their love of dancing to anyone who wants to learn. They opened Phoenix Dance Studio together in 2010.
