Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy an evening of dancing, fun and festive frivolity!

Glass of bubbles on arrival.
Delicious platters of food on each table.
The infamous Christmas Quiz (with prizes!)

Plus, of course, there will be lots of social dancing with Waltz, Cha Cha Cha, Salsa, Quickstep, Swing, Rumba, Samba, Tango and all your other favourite styles.

We’ll even have a few party dances that will get you and your guests up the dance floor.

World of Dance Championship 2017

We held the draw on Saturday and we now have the line up for the big night. Some competitors were delighted with their given style, some had never tried that particular dance but were up for the challenge and some screamed in terror and prayed to a higher power for help.

Each dancer will perform a uniquely choreographed routine in the dance style that was chosen at random. They have just five weeks to learn and then perform it on Saturday 8th July at Phoenix. An independent judge will select the champion who will win the title of Phoenix Dance Studio’s World of Dance Champion 2017 which comes with a $1000 cash prize

Make sure to get your tickets for Saturday 8th July for a great night of dancing and to cheer and stamp and clap for everyone performing that evening.

THE TITLE OF PHOENIX DANCE STUDIO WORLD OF DANCE CHAMPION COMES WITH $1000 CASH PRIZE AND ETERNAL GLORY FOR THE VICTOR!

This years World of Dance Championship is starting to heat up as the entrants sign up to compete for the Title, the Glory and the $1000 cash prize.

We also have the first of our sponsors on board so we’ll start introducing you next week.

Here’s the rundown on how it works.

This championship is not for the faint hearted as every dancer has their achilles heel and even with the best laid plans there is no knowing which dance you’ll draw. Contestants have their dance drawn at our social dance at Phoenix dance studio on the 3rd June. Then they have just 5 weeks to perfect a dance showcase in that style to be performed in full costume on 8th July.

The 3rd June will be a great afternoon for a dance and also a good chance to chat with some of our suppliers and sponsors about dance wear and shoes. Everyone is welcome. Towards the end of the afternoon, dances will be drawn from a hat by our brave contestants to discover which particular dance they will be working on for the next 5 weeks of blood, sweat and tears!

Anyone can enter from any level, and the music, choreography and costuming is decided by their instructor in consultation with them.

Christmas and New Year Holidays

Phoenix Dance Studio will be closed for two weeks for Christmas and New year holidays from Saturday 24th of December till Sunday the 8th of January. The studio will reopen on Monday the 9th January.

Final group classes will run week ending 17th December and commence again from 30th January.

We hope you all have a fantastic break also and a wonderful festive season with plenty of dancing to match the good dinners. We look forward to seeing you in 2017 for another year of great dancing.

Tango Dance Party 17th December 2016

Well it’s that time of year and everybody is having a party and we just couldn’t help joining in. This is going to be a big bish bash bosh mix up of all the things we like best.

We haven’t had the chance for a Milonga since we returned from Argentina so this is it. We’ll have a Tango lesson to get you warmed up and into it and then we’ll play all our favourite tunes we brought back with us. We heard some fantastic live music while we were over there and brought all their music to share with you. I think it is also a good reason to buy Malbec so we’ll have some hearty red wine at the bar along with all the usual goodies. Bring a plate to share with your friends, if anyone knows how to make empanadas like they do in Argentina let me know and I’ll sit at your table. Tom and I will also showcase a little of what we learnt while we were away, with an improvised Tango performance.

Tom won’t let christmas go by without a quiz so I’m going to inflict this on our dear patrons instead of having him ruin christmas day insisting we all do our homework and have our questions ready! Because he is also a really bad winner making him quiz master seems to work a treat. There’s prizes for the winning table of course.

From there we plan to party on with all the music that gets your feet tapping and your blood pumping from swing to salsa right down to the last waltz until we’re done.

Sunday 6th March -Open Day and Bridge Road Gathering.

Bring along your friends and family and make a day of it. Free dance workshops for you to try out different dances or bully your friends into giving it a go. Lots of dance performances dance demonstrations and great music. Also a brilliant day to have a wander on Bridge Rd. and check out all the delicious food on offer. More about this soon!

Saturday 21st May -Dance Party and Medal Night.

A great dance event for everyone. Student performances, great music, loads of dancing. For medal exam performers progress checks are 7th May.

Saturday 2nd July -Winter Dance and Championship dance draw.

A fantastic afternoon of dancing and music. Also, find out who will be dancing what in the World of Dance Championship.

Saturday 6th August -World of Dance Championship.

The biggest dance competition event of the year. Thrills and spills a plenty. Massive $1000 cash prize. Strictly limited places. Entries open 1st June. Get in quick to secure your place.

Hey everyone, all our group dance classes recommence this week. All the classes are the same time, same place as last year so get yourself booked in for your favourite class now! Or, if you haven’t been in to see us yet, get the new year going with the dancing you’ve always wanted to do. Dance classes run every night of the week and Saturdays.

Happy New Year, welcome to 2016!

Hey everyone, we hope you enjoyed the holidays and had a wonderful time with family and friends.

We sure did, and now we are all back on the dance floor, so it’s time to come in and work off those christmas puddings. Don’t mind the heat, the air-con is beautiful, and it’s comfortable as anything in here.

Private dance lessons start tomorrow, Monday 11th January, so if you’re not booked in yet you can do so through mindbody online or drop us a line and we’ll do it for you. Group dance classes start next week, Monday 18th January.
